Translational Medicine major overview
Translational Medicine
This is a doctoral program of biomedicine for those with a master’s
degree or medical specialist license after graduation from medical
college, and the following are educational objectives that need to
be established for excellent research capability.
To achieve the educational goals of the translational medicine major, this major operates U_BEST (UUCM-Biomedical Education and Scientist Training) programs, which are UUCM's specialized basic-clinic convergence educational curriculum. With these programs, Translational medicine major concentrates on increasing supports to enhance research quality to lead into the future by building its open network and expanding research resources for practical translational researches. U-BEST programs include the following 4 educational objectives and aim to realize convergence education by systemizing Integrative, Interactive, Specialized and Globalized curriculum through the basic-clinic cooperation.

1) B-Biomedical Science Training to Develop Creative Leadership

Training Biomedical scientists with creative leadership to conduct specialized translational research

2) E-Enhanced Integration of Basic Research and Clinical Application

Establishing a training system for practical translational and biomedical scientists capable of drawing results of basic research based on U-BEST curriculum and apply the results from lab to clinic.

3) S-Synergistic Research Collaboration through Basic-Clinic Research Network

Building cooperative basic-clinic convergence research network for maximizing synergistic research.

4) T-Translating Knowledge to Solution for the Future Medicine

Creating future values through drawing basic research findings for the future medicine, securing original technology and technological commercialization.

Educational objectives
and goals
01 To acquire integrative knowledge of translational
medicine through step-by-step customized
education of disease-oriented applied learning
in biomedical field.
02 To understand translational research methods
that creatively combine basic biomedical science
and clinical medicine based on accumulated
clinical knowledge and have translational
researcher’s view by improving analytical skills
for the research results.
03 To enhance international competitiveness leading
the world class translational researches by
developing capability to catch and deal with
the rapidly changing medical environment and
medical research trends.
04 To have a sense of duty of contributing to
human health by devoting themselves to
biomedical researches on the basis of strong
ethics as a researcher.
